From Flush:

We look forward to seeing everyone at the MCH3 Water Stop Saturday at
mile 23.5, located in Shelby Park. Remember, this is a rain or shine
event, so bring your rain gear given the current forecast (or your
sunscreen if it changes). We are not paired with any other groups
this year, so we need everyone to come out to work and play. If
you've got fun friends, bring them along too!

You can view a map for the water stop location here: http://www.gmap-
pedometer.com/?r=1820925
…or on the Yahoo group site at:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/mchash/files/

We have a few folks who've agreed to show up at 6:00 for set up, and
the rest of you probably need to be there by 8:00. The earlier you
come, the easier it is to gain access to the park and drive to our
stop. The later come, the more you may have to walk if the route is
closed and the rangers grumpy. There is a parking pass also posted
on the Yahoo group site at:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/mchash/files/. It may or may
not help. Be nice and respectful to the rangers, explain where
you're going and why, etc. And if you move a sawhorse to enter the
park, please move it back once you've pulled through.

You won't be able to drive back out until things begin winding down
after 1:00 or so. Another parking option for late arrivals or those
needing to leave earlier is to park near the entrance to Shelby Park
and walk past the ball fields to our site. We will be between the
junior ball fields near the railroad trestle, so look for the trestle
as a landmark.

A couple of options for approaching the site are provided below.
Remember that Shelby Avenue at 5th will be closed during the
marathon, so you probably won't be able to get through that
intersection and I wouldn't advise exiting Shelby Avenue from the
interstate. Take Spring/Main Street and Ellington Parkway exit
instead. Don't get on Ellington, but head toward Main Street and
turn left. Follow Main St. away from town to either N. 10th St or N.
11th Street and hang a right. Follow either of those to Shelby Avenue
and turn left. Follow Shelby to S. 19th and hang a right. Go two
blocks and turn left on Eastside Avenue. Follow Eastside down the
hill into the park. To see a map of this route, go to:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1831560

You'll see there is another water stop where you enter the park
there, but that's not us. Walk or drive to the back side of the park
near the trestle.

Another route is to go further out Main until it becomes Gallatin,
turn right on Eastland, and right onto Riverside Drive to approach
the back of the park. You can see that route here: http://www.gmap-
pedometer.com/?r=1831575

Bring a chair if you want to, food and drink to get you through the
day or share with runners, and remember to be discreet with the beer,
which as last year will be at the last table. We'll have the hash
banner up, and wear hash attire so people will recognize our group.
